Charlie Bucket lives in a poor family in London with his parents and four grandparents, all of whom are depending on him to win a Golden Ticket hidden inside a chocolate bar that will grant him a tour of the mysterious and magical chocolate factory owned by the great Willy Wonka. Joining Charlie on the tour are some rather unpleasant young winners, including Augustus Gloop, who is obsessed with food; Violet Beauregarde, who is obsessed with being a gum-chewing champion; Veruca Salt, who is obsessed with wealth; and Mike Teavee, who is obsessed with television. As the children move deeper into the factory, they become corrupted by its wondrous inventions and temptations, and one by one, they are ejected by Wonka for their misdeeds. Will Charlie prove to be a better heir to Wonka's empire and redeem this moral dilemma?
