Prince Siddhartha is a young prince of Shakya, a kingdom constantly at war with the more powerful Kosala. His father, King Shuddhodana, raises him as a warrior, shielding him from the suffering of the world. But when Siddhartha meets the outcast Migaila, he experiences the capacity for love and the sting of witnessing the suffering of humankind. Meanwhile, Chapra, a lowborn, rises to become a general and hero in the Kosala army. A final war between the kingdoms forces Siddhartha to reconsider his path and confront his true nature as a leader.
