Hardin is a ruthless and seemingly cold-hearted TA who, early in the term, orchestrates the swapping of student partners for an assignment, leading to thrusting Scott and Megan together. During the duration of the term, Megan deals with Scott's immature and narcissistic behavior, with the thesis readings taking a deeper turn as she realizes that his bipolar disorder cannot be an excuse for his actions. As the term progresses, Scott slowly starts to develop feelings for Megan, fighting against his nature to not ruin her reputation and attempting to be a better person for her.
